The Major Cities And Provinces Of Western Canada

The area known as Western Canada includes the land-locked provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, British Columbia which borders the Pacific Ocean and Manitoba that shares its northerly border with Hudson Bay and the Port of Churchill.

The Provinces and cities of Western Canada offer quite a contrast in geography, climate and of course activity due to these factors.

British Columbia offers the most moderate climate because of the Pacific Ocean. It does however tend to be wetter than London, this is especially true in Vancouver the most populous and metropolitan city in the Province.

Surprise! Canada has beaches and Vancouver has more than 10. Each has its own type crowd and atmosphere from free-spirited, over-tones of flower children to body-worshiper types and everything in between. There are also many smaller beaches and lakes for activities available.

Vancouver has much in the way of activities and events, museums and a Science Center complete with IMAX, many tours, spectator sport and gambling.

Next would be the city included in the top 10 family vacations in Canada,Victoria. This visually gorgeous city has flower gardens famous world-wide and everywhere one looks is a more stunning view. Victoria is also home to the second largest Chinatown in North America.

Manitoba Province embodies more of the rugged wild terrain one would expect from Canada. The territory is prairie grass south and west with large meandering wetlands. Delta Marsh is a migration stop for large numbers and varieties of birds, in fact it is one of the largest fresh water migration stations in the world.

Winnipeg is the largest city in the Province with approximately 800,000 citizens. Classical music, art galleries, and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet all have a home here.

Manitoba is also a hunting and fishing paradise with thousands of lakes surrounded by seemingly endless forest land.

Alberta is home to the the Canadian Rockies. Canada’s first national park is Banff which is near Jasper National Park where activities range from hiking, skiing and cycling.

Calgary is flush with oil money thus it has become the fastest growing city in North America. While Edmonton within the Province is home to the world’s largest shopping mall.

Saskatchewan Province 10 largest cities range in population from Saskatoon with population under 300,000 to Cormon Park adding approximately 10,000 citizens.

Saskatchewan is a large producer of wheat, grains, cattle and mining. Energy production is also a growing industry producing oil and gas.

The province is home to two gems, one being Manitou Beach and Little Manitou Lake which has therapeutic qualities that occur naturally. It is unique and comparable to Karlovy Vary found in the Czech Republic and Israel’s Dead Sea.

Saskatchewan is also home to 100,000 lakes, so very perfect for all matter of water sports and activities.
